However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/new-credit-debit-card-rule-for-recurring-payments-kicks-in-from-next-month-details-here-11632628315861.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">in case the amount is higher than Rs. 15,000 then as per the RBI guidelines, the customers have to approve through an OTP<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RBI added <strong>AFA (Additional Factor Authentication)<\/strong> if the e-mandate for the recurring payments is higher than the said amount. <em>This applies not only to recurring payments on credit cards but also to debit cards, prepaid payment instruments and UPI<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rbi-s-new-guidelines-on-recurring-auto-pay\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"RBIs_New_Guidelines_on_Recurring_Auto-Pay\"><\/span><strong>RBI\u2019s New Guidelines on Recurring Auto-Pay<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RBI\u2019s AFA guideline regarding <strong>approval of e-mandate transactions via OTP<\/strong> by the customer was effective from October 1, 2021. However, <em>previously the limit was Rs. 5,000 which t<\/em>he RBI <em>hiked up to Rs, 15,000 in June 2022<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The banks also need to <strong>send a notification to the customer at least 24 hours before they<\/strong> <strong>process the auto-debit payment<\/strong>. The customers can be notified through email or SMS.
