# Samsung Pay

> Accept domestic card payments through Samsung Pay on Cashfree-hosted checkout on your website or app.

Samsung Pay lets your customers pay with cards saved in the Samsung Wallet app on their Samsung Galaxy phone. Customers approve the payment in Samsung Wallet with their fingerprint, face or PIN. They approve on the same phone when shopping on mobile, or by linking their phone when shopping on a desktop.

## Benefits of Samsung Pay

Offering Samsung Pay at checkout gives Samsung Galaxy customers a fast, saved-card payment experience, which improves both payment success and checkout conversion:

* **Higher success rate**: Samsung Pay uses a device-specific token instead of manually entered card details. This removes common failure points such as mistyped card numbers.
* **Better conversion**: Customers pick a card in Samsung Wallet and confirm with biometrics or PIN, with no card form to fill in.
* **Saved-card experience for first-time buyers**: Cards are saved in Samsung Wallet at the device level and work with any merchant on that device. Customers get a saved-card experience even on their first purchase with you.
* **Works on desktop too**: Customers shopping on a laptop or PC can pay by linking their Galaxy phone through their Samsung account email or by scanning a QR code.

## Compatibility

Samsung Pay works for customers in the following cases:

* **Samsung Galaxy phone with Samsung Wallet**: The customer pays on mobile, and Samsung Wallet opens on the same phone.
* **Desktop**: The customer links their Galaxy phone by entering their Samsung account email or scanning a QR code, then approves the payment in Samsung Wallet on the phone.

Samsung Pay supports Visa and Mastercard cards from supported issuing banks that the customer has added to Samsung Wallet. RuPay cards can't currently be added to Samsung Wallet, so Samsung Pay doesn't support them.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Samsung Pay availability also depends on the customer's device model and browser. Samsung Pay appears as a payment option only when Samsung confirms that the customer's device and browser support it and the customer has saved cards in Samsung Wallet.

## How Samsung Pay works

The payment flow depends on whether the customer pays on their phone or on a desktop.

> [tab] Samsung Galaxy phone
>
> The customer completes the payment on their phone as follows:
>
> 1. The customer selects **Pay with Samsung Pay** at checkout.
> 2. Samsung Wallet opens on the phone and shows the merchant name, the amount and the customer's default card. The customer can switch to another card.
> 3. The customer confirms with fingerprint, face or PIN.
> 4. Cashfree processes the payment and the customer sees the result on checkout.

> [tab] Desktop
>
> The customer completes the payment on a desktop as follows:
>
> 1. The customer selects **Pay with Samsung Pay** at checkout.
>
> 2. A Samsung pop-up asks the customer to scan a QR code with their Galaxy phone or enter their Samsung account email.

> >
> > The customer enters their Samsung account email to send the payment request to their phone.
>
> 3. In Samsung Wallet on their phone, the customer selects a card and confirms with fingerprint, face or PIN.
>
> 4. The desktop shows a confirmation and the customer sees the result on checkout.

> [!NOTE]
>
> For some cards, the issuing bank may still ask for an OTP (one-time password) after the customer approves in Samsung Wallet. This depends on whether the issuer supports consumer device cardholder verification method (CDCVM), which is device-based biometric authentication, for that card. If the issuer doesn't support it, Cashfree shows OTP authentication as a fallback.

## Integration options

How you enable Samsung Pay depends on how you load Cashfree-hosted checkout:

| Integration path | What you need to do | Details |
| - | - | - |
| Web checkout (redirect, popup or inline) | Nothing. Samsung Pay is enabled by default. | [Web checkout](#web-checkout) |
| Android app with a Cashfree mobile SDK | Upgrade to Android SDK 2.6.1, React Native SDK 2.5.1 or Flutter SDK 2.5.0, or later. | [Android apps](#android-apps) |
| Android app with your own WebView and the Cashfree JS SDK | Enable JavaScript and DOM storage, handle `samsungpay` deep links, then ask Cashfree to enable Samsung Pay. | [WebView with Cashfree JS SDK](#webview-with-cashfree-js-sdk) |

> [tab] Web checkout
>
> Samsung Pay is enabled by default for [redirect, popup and inline checkout](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/online/web/redirect.md). No code changes are needed. Cashfree handles the following for you:
>
> * Cashfree checkout checks whether the customer's device and browser support Samsung Pay and shows the Samsung Pay button only when they do.
> * Cashfree handles the Samsung Pay session, decrypts the payment data, processes the payment and shows the final status to the customer.
> * You receive the payment status through the usual [payment webhooks](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/online/webhooks/overview.md) and the [Get Payments for an Order API](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/api-reference/payments/latest/payments/get-payments-for-an-order.md).

> [tab] Android apps
>
> In an Android app, Samsung Pay opens the Samsung Wallet app through a deep link (a link that opens a specific app instead of a web page). The Cashfree Android SDK and the hybrid SDKs (React Native and Flutter) handle this deep link from the following versions. Upgrade to at least the minimum version for your SDK:
>
> | SDK | Minimum version |
> | - | - |
> | [Android](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/online/mobile/android.md) | 2.6.1 |
> | [React Native](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/online/mobile/react-native.md) | 2.5.1 |
> | [Flutter](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/online/mobile/flutter.md) | 2.5.0 |
>
> After you upgrade, Samsung Pay works automatically. Older SDK versions don't support Samsung Pay.

> [tab] WebView with Cashfree JS SDK
>
> In an Android app, Samsung Pay opens the Samsung Wallet app through a deep link (a link that opens a specific app instead of a web page). If you load Cashfree checkout in your own Android WebView, your app must pass this link to Android. Otherwise, the Samsung Pay button doesn't respond.
>
> Configure the WebView as described in Samsung's [Implement a WebView integration](https://developer.samsung.com/pay/merchant/web-checkout-sdk/implement-webview.html) guide. To configure the WebView:
>
> 1. Enable JavaScript and DOM storage through `WebSettings`. Both are disabled by default in WebView.
> 2. In your `WebViewClient`, override `shouldOverrideUrlLoading()` to detect Samsung Pay deep links, which start with `samsungpay`, and launch them with an Android `Intent` instead of loading them in the WebView.
>
> Samsung's guide includes a sample Kotlin implementation for these steps.
>
> After you make these changes, submit the [Support Form](https://merchant.cashfree.com/merchants/landing?env=prod\&raise_issue=1) to confirm. Cashfree then enables Samsung Pay for your account.

## Security

Samsung Pay protects customer card data as follows:

* Samsung Pay uses device-specific tokens instead of actual card numbers.
* Customers approve payments in Samsung Wallet with fingerprint, face or PIN.
* Samsung encrypts the payment data, and Cashfree decrypts it on its servers. Card details never reach your website or app.

## Troubleshooting

Use the following checks to resolve common Samsung Pay issues.

> [accordion] Samsung Pay button not appearing or not responding
>
> Check the following:
>
> * Verify that the customer is on a supported device: a Samsung Galaxy phone with Samsung Wallet, or a desktop browser.
> * Confirm that the customer has a Visa or Mastercard card saved in Samsung Wallet. RuPay cards aren't supported.
> * If your checkout runs in an Android app, check the following:
> * Upgrade your Cashfree SDK to at least the minimum version listed in [Android apps](#android-apps).
> * If you use your own WebView, add deep link handling as described in [WebView with Cashfree JS SDK](#webview-with-cashfree-js-sdk). Make sure that you've submitted the [Support Form](https://merchant.cashfree.com/merchants/landing?env=prod\&raise_issue=1) and received confirmation that Samsung Pay is enabled for your account.
> * Make sure that the customer has upgraded to the latest version of your app.

For additional support, contact your Cashfree account manager or submit the [Support Form](https://merchant.cashfree.com/merchants/landing?env=prod\&raise_issue=1).
