  2. Go to the PG PRODUCTS section and select One Click Checkout.
  3. Click on Shipping & Delivery. You’ll be directed to the Shipping Rules modal.

Use cases for shipping rules

Shipping rules allow merchants to customise delivery charges and availability based on specific business needs and customer order behaviour. Below are key use cases supported by the system:

  • Charging extra fee on Cash on Delivery (COD): Merchants can configure different shipping charges based on the selected payment method, allowing them to apply an additional fee for COD orders. This helps offset the higher operational costs and risks associated with cash handling and failed deliveries, while encouraging customers to opt for prepaid options by offering lower or no shipping fees.

  • Charging more based on product quantity or weight: When customers add more products to their cart, shipping costs may increase due to the added weight. With weight-based rules, merchants can apply tiered fees, ensuring accurate cost coverage for heavier shipments.

  • Restricting delivery to specific pincodes: To manage service availability or avoid high-risk zones, merchants can block or allow shipping only to a defined list of pincodes. This ensures smooth logistics and avoids delivery issues in unsupported regions.

  • Disabling express shipping: To ensure that the express shipping option is not displayed to customers during checkout, you can simply remove all rules defined under the Express shipping rule set. If no valid Express shipping rule applies to the customer’s cart, the Express shipping option will not be shown on the checkout page. This allows merchants to temporarily or conditionally disable Express shipping without deleting the entire rule set or affecting other shipping methods.

Creating a shipping rule

Shipping rules can be created directly from the One Click Checkout section in the Payment Gateway dashboard.

  1. Access the shipping and delivery section

    • From the left-hand sidebar, expand the PG PRODUCTS section.
    • Under One Click Checkout, select Shipping & Delivery.
  2. Create a shipping rule

You will be directed to a form titled Create a rule for [Shipping Type], where you can define the details of the shipping method.

  1. Configure shipping rule settings
  • Display name

    • Purpose: This is the label your customers will see at checkout.
    • Example: Express, Same-Day Delivery, Standard
If you’re renaming an existing rule, a message may appear indicating all rules of that type will adopt the new display name.
  • Shipping fee Select one of the following options:

    • Free (₹ 0): No shipping charge will be applied.
    • Add Shipping Charge: Enables a field to enter the shipping cost.

  • Applicable payment modes: Select the payment methods supported for this shipping rule:

    • COD (Cash on Delivery)
    • Prepaid
    • Partial Payment
Only one payment mode can be selected per rule.
  1. Review the checkout preview

A preview panel on the right shows how your shipping method will appear to customers during checkout. This includes:

  • Display name
  • Address section
  • Shipping fee
  • Available options and action buttons

Define shipping fee conditions

Click “Add a condition” to set rules for how and when the shipping fee is applied. Available condition types include:

Condition TypeDescription
Order ValueApply fees based on the total price of a customer’s order. Useful for free shipping above a certain amount.
PincodesApply fees to deliveries targeting specific postal codes. Helps manage location-based shipping costs.
ProductsApply fees to specific products. Useful for high-value or bulky items.
Product WeightApply fees based on the total weight of items in the cart. Ideal for logistics-based pricing.

Once saved, all configured rules appear in a table under the respective shipping tab (e.g., Standard Shipping Rules).
