The Challenge
Over the years, Sepoy & Co. had built consistent sales volume through online marketplaces, quick commerce and retail. But its own D2C site was falling short. Despite strong traffic on the website, the brand’s conversion rate told a very different story.
The brand was running on Shopify's native checkout, a 7 to 8-step flow where buyers had to retype their address details and enter payment information from scratch every time, with little control over COD.
High-intent shoppers were dropping off through the process, and a heavy reliance on COD was weighing down order quality. Sepoy & Co. needed a checkout that could reduce friction, push more shoppers toward prepaid, and turn existing traffic into completed orders.

Replacing Multi-Step Checkout with a Faster Flow
One Click Checkout replaced the 7 to 8-step Shopify flow with a near-seamless experience. Returning shoppers had their address pre-filled and payment pre-selected by leveraging 120M+ addresses and 50M+ payment data, so they could move from cart to payment without retyping details or navigating multiple screens.
Prepaid Offers for New and Returning Customers
Sepoy & Co. introduced prepaid offers across all prepaid payment modes and created custom offers for both new and existing customers. Surfacing these offers directly within checkout made prepaid the easier, more rewarding choice at the moment of payment.

Smarter COD Handling to Shift the Payment Mix
Rather than removing COD, Sepoy & Co. introduced an additional charge of ₹90 collected at delivery. The COD fee nudged price-sensitive shoppers toward prepaid while keeping COD available for those who needed it, improving both conversion and order quality.
Reducing RTO with AI- powered RTO Intelligence
Cashfree's RTO Intelligence uses 2.5B+ logistics data points across 1.8K+ pincodes to classify shoppers by RTO risk. Sepoy & Co enabled COD only for low-risk users and disabled it for high-risk ones, keeping returns in check without turning away genuine buyers.
The Results
Within 3 months of moving to Cashfree One Click Checkout, Sepoy & Co. saw:
