The engineering team at Cashfree Payments comprises a diverse group of skilled coders and problem solvers, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table. Here, we are bullish and actively invest in young talent. When we say we’re bullish on them, it’s not just about hiring; it’s about nurturing their growth, involving them in tackling complex challenges and entrusting them with impactful projects where they have full ownership.

But you don’t have to take our word for it – hear directly from two of our young techies in this blog post. Meet Rashi and Aman, who joined us straight out of college approximately 7-8 months ago. Rashi came aboard as a full-time employee, while Aman began his journey as an intern in our tech team. Join us as we delve into conversations with them, uncovering insights into the culture, coding experiences, and daily life at Cashfree.

Gearing up for success

Holding an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT-Hyderabad, Rashi Dixit is a part of the Payouts team at Cashfree Payments. Her interests at work centre around seeking innovative solutions to technical challenges and perpetually expanding her skill set.

What excites Rashi about her work is the consistent chance to delve into and tackle cutting-edge technology – “I enjoy the process of problem-solving because it allows me to apply my knowledge and skills in practical ways. The gratification derived from overcoming technical obstacles and delivering solutions is immensely fulfilling”.

In her first project at Cashfree Payments, Rashi was responsible for implementing CVE fixes across various Java and Go services linked to payouts – “The primary challenge arose from substantial alterations following a Spring version upgrade, demanding comprehensive end-to-end testing. Additionally, managing cross-team dependencies necessitated close cooperation and coordination.” To overcome these obstacles, Rashi meticulously conducted end-to-end testing and collaborated closely with cross-functional teams. By proactively scheduling meetings, she facilitated strategic discussions on testing methodologies and deployment strategies, resulting in a seamless and triumphant implementation of the fixes.

Reflecting on their journey at Cashfree Payments, Rashi describes it as a fulfilling experience on both personal and professional fronts – “The company’s culture, centred around collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, has created a supportive and dynamic workplace environment. Working alongside talented colleagues who are not only passionate about their work but also eager to share knowledge has been a highlight.” Additionally, Rashi acknowledges the invaluable mentorship received from experienced leaders within the organisation.

When asked about recommending Cashfree Payments to individuals eyeing a tech career, Rashi wholeheartedly endorses it – “There are abundant opportunities for growth and development, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and a nurturing work culture that fosters creativity and innovation.”

Among our set of company values, Rashi identifies strongly with “Wearing Multiple Hats”. This value underscores the significance of versatility, allowing individuals to explore various roles and domains within the organisation.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Rashi finds joy in music, embraces the beauty of nature, and remains steadfast in her belief that innovation can be a catalyst for positive change.

Thinking Impact

Meet Aman Suri, originally from Delhi and a recent graduate from NIT Delhi. He joined Cashfree Payments during his college’s last semester and made his way to Bangalore for his internship, marking his first time away from home. But it was all worth it – “Starting as an intern last year and now working as an SDE, I appreciate the chance to work with two different pods within the Cashfree Engineering team : Opex initially, and now with the PG Onboarding/PG CS team.

During his Opex internship under exclusive guidance, Aman soaked up the company culture, made friends, and learned from many – “Despite being an intern, I was heavily involved in multiple projects and even took charge of some.”

A standout project started by his colleague became a cornerstone of Aman’s work here, providing valuable coding experience and insight into industry standards. He explains – “Let me give you some background on this project, closely related to my current team’s work in PG Onboarding. In the realm of gateway onboarding, there are generally two methods: API-based onboarding, where we use bank APIs to submit merchant details, and manual onboarding, where bank operations compile merchant lists and details to email to the respective payment gateways (PGs). In both processes, we receive credentials for merchants to process transactions. This project focused on automating the manual credential procurement flow.”

He adds further highlighting the key takeaways from this project – “Through this experience, I learned that while coding and software development are important, the true value lies in understanding the problem domain, collaborating effectively with teammates, and delivering solutions that not only meet technical requirements but also address the needs of end-users and stakeholders. It’s about making a meaningful impact beyond just writing code.

Now, as an SDE 1 in the PG Onboarding team, Aman emphasises the continuous learning and problem-solving environment. He shares that Cashfree Payments is one of the best companies to start with as a young techie – “I can tell you that if you thrive on challenges, this is the right place. Every day brings new problems to solve and new things to learn. We don’t just focus on development; we also take full ownership of tasks, from design and testing to deployment and monitoring.” Aman further adds that working alongside experienced individuals who excel in technical knowledge and soft skills provides an excellent opportunity for growth.

For Aman, the value that resonates the most is “Think Impact.” He is driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference by using resources efficiently, reducing tech debt, planning and executing goals effectively, measuring outcomes, thinking strategically, and fostering a positive culture.
